Mentorship and GBV response program for girls in vulnerable communities in Kenya.

Commencing on the 25th of November, International Day for the Elimination of all forms of violence against Women and girls, we were able to debunk the common myths surrounding GBV which have given room for the continuous perpetration of acts of GBV against women in most communities and slowed down their growth and their ability to achieve their full potential. In a series of mentorship programs organized across other countries including Nigeria and Cameroon, we reached out to pivotal community schools educating them on why it is important for them to join the fight against GBV and “SPEAK UP” as well.

In areas like Mukuru and Kwa Jenga, one of the top clustered and unsafe slums in Nairobi, many girls are at risk of dropping out of school, teenage pregnancies and exposed to violence on regular that is being silenced. Our signature initiative “My voice matters” reminds girls of the need to speak up, report and end the cycle of violence around them. It is our goal to create safe havens for girls in community schools.

Ed-Tech education for vulnerable orphans and children in crisis affected regions of Cameroon.

To eradicate and reduce the number of out-of-school children affected by the NO SCHOOL ban in crisis affected regions of Cameroon. On World Literacy Day 2021, our initiative supported over 20 children with materials and e-learning tools to take lessons and stay up to date with literacy and school curriculum. This is an area which needs a lot of support. We were able to work with two local partners HADY Cameroon and Falone Foundation.

Business support grants for Internally displaced mothers and vulnerable women.

It is no doubt that in the face of a crisis women are most vulnerable in terms of losing their jobs, relocating and focusing on family and even violence . Over 70% of women and girls are vulnerable and will become highly financially dependent on others for subsistence hence the splurge in violence cases. As part of our psychosocial support program and rehabilitation program under the Gender Fund of our organization, we are focused on promoting SDG 5 by encouraging nurturing and supporting vulnerable and internally displaced mothers and girls with small business support grants as a means of providing them a more sustainable means of income and livelihood support. This way, they can provide for and cater for their families and needs.

In this case , most of them are mothers victims of gruesome circumstances as a result of the civil unrest in the north west and south west regions of Cameroon who have almost given up on life. A token business grant , has helped many of them under our guidance and monitoring to set up small scale business such as provision stores, local farm to market sale in their own communities and poultry farming.

Our program has supported over 6 women with start up capital especially in the city of Douala and we hope to extend our reach to more women and vulnerable girls. To find out more on how you can be part of our small support grants scheme , helping mothers and vulnerable women get their lives back, regain confidence, while providing for their families, please leave us a mail, message or comment.
