BOOT2SCHOOL

As the school academic year draws in, thousands of children from conflict affected regions living under harsh conditions and with no access to funding find it hard to integrate the school systems. In Cameroon, in the North West and South West regions, there have been ghost towns preventing children from seeing the four walls of a classroom. Many have migrated and continue to migrate with their families in search of greener pasture. Most of them end up living under sad conditions in mushy swampy neighbourhoods where the commute to local schools is hideous. Some children are unable to leave their homes due to the heavy rains and heavy muds. Our initiative Boot2SChool aims at providing basic footwear to enable them commute easier, and eventually increase the school attendance rate. Our partners on this initiative include Wanyuri Foundation (major sponsor) Bixo Academy, and LionsClub Douala. Through this initiative on World Literacy Day, are focus was on improving literacy levels and access to classrooms through the provision of basic footwear. We were able to support over supporting 150 children hosted by Fountain of Knowledge school: A community school which has been providing a lot of support to pupils within this slum neighborhood.
